The workshops provide you with much more one on one time to create a painting and hone your skills. Perfect for both those who have attended Hidden Art Club Evenings & workshops previously and wish to develop what they have already learnt, as well as for beginners to have a chance to really get involved in the process of painting and take their time learning new skills.

It will be a lovely day to expand your creativity in a social and laid-back atmosphere. At the end of the day, you will leave having learnt something new, made friends with members of the group, and have a painting on canvas to be proud of.

If you've never painted before or are very new to it, this is the perfect weekend workshop to cover all the basics and massively improve your painting game.​​​​​

Day 1: we will go through 'values', tones, and how to create a painting that feels 3D. I'll take you through the importance of an underpainting, different paint textures, as well as different brush effects. At the end of today you will have a complete monochrome painting

Day 2: Time to introduce colour. Now we have the basic outline of your painting, I will teach you how to mix colours, colour theory, layering, and texture. At the end of today you will have a complete painting on canvas to be proud of!

Intro to oil painting

Spend the day learning the basics of oil painting. This is a medium favoured by millions of painters worldwide and over centuries, and for good reason! Its beautiful qualities let us play with texture, layering, blending, and help us achieve lifelike results in our paintings. I'll take you through the history of the medium, artist examples, different techniques you can achieve with it, how to blend, what is an underpainting, colour mixing, etc. At the end of the class you'll have an oil painting on canvas to be proud of!​

Spend the day expanding your oil painting skills. This workshop is perfect for those who have painted a bit before, and those who have attended 'Intro to oil painting'. Learn how to work with the slow drying medium, editing as you go, applying and removing paint, and ending up with a painterly, layered and sophisticated oil painting on canvas.

Important details
The workshop is based in my studio in the Baltic Triangle, Liverpool. Full address & directions sent out after ticket purchase. The studio is well and truly hidden!
​
Free parking is available on site within the Safestore Storage carpark.
Please arrive a few minutes before the starting time so we can get the class going on time.
There will be breaks throughout for refreshments. Lunch is not provided, but snacks and drinks are. You are welcome to bring your lunch with you.
​You'll be provided all painting materials, subject matter, a canvas, and advice from me, all as part of the ticket price. Just bring yourself and wear old clothes you don't mind getting dirty!

All painting levels are welcome, even if you've never held a paintbrush before!
